Last September 27th, the journey on construction with trees was celebrated and we were able to understand the state and advances in works where this traditional technique is being implemented using novel, natural and low-energy materials embedded in social housing works that is taking place in Ribera del Fresno, Badajoz.
The journey entitled "The trees: A traditional solution for sustainable architecture today. In the case of Ribera del Fresno" began with the intervention of Manuel Fortea Luna, an architect specialized in calculation and design of trees, and concluded with a visit to the works of the three houses in Ribera del Fresno, managed by the company URVIPEXSA and implemented within the framework of the European project LIE-RenaturalNZEB, coordinated by the Junta de Extremadura, and in which with some partners such as INTROMAC, CICYTEX, ITeCons, LNEG, URVIPEXSA and the University of Córdoba.
During the visit to the works URVIPEXSA explained to the assistants the solution carried out in the houses with the structure of two hojas' boveda using for the Celenit and Rasilla de Tierra Comprimida-BTC. The innovator in this case is to use construction technologies based on the use of natural resources in the area to recover a traditional construction technique in the area. In this way, the objectives of the LIFE-RenaturalNZEB project are achieved as regards the instruction of sustainable construction materials and technologies, and promote the green and circular economy in the construction sector using technologies made with natural and local resources to thus improve it regional economy and social opportunities in the regions participating in the project.
