The Higher Technical School of Building Engineering of the University of Granada hosted, on September 30 and October 1, technical conferences on use, industrial transformation and new uses of Andalusian wood in which, for the first time, Agents from the entire value chain participate, from the primary to the industrial sector, including the knowledge sector in the forestry, construction and architecture fields.

The meeting was organized by the universities of Granada, Córdoba and Huelva, under the umbrella of the LIFE Wood for Future project, led by the University of Granada. The inauguration was attended by the Minister of Development, Territorial Articulation and Housing of the Government of Andalusia, Marifrán Carazo, the general director of Forest Policy and Biodiversity of the Government of Andalusia, Giuseppe Aloisio and the director of the ETS of Building Engineering.

In the presentation “Sustainability of black pine structural wood. Mechanical and environmental performance”, Professor Marta Conde García (UCO) explained the benefits of this material and the advances for its incorporation in buildings with almost zero energy consumption with a low carbon footprint.
